I went to Puri
Beach and it is located in
Odisha. I found the beach is in the Bay of Bengal and I
found that it attracts the tourist. I discovered that it is a sacred place for the
Hindu. Every year, I attend the annual Puri Beach Festival. I heard that the
Indian Ministry of Tourism sponsors it. I also find the presence of Development Commissioner of Handicrafts. I observe the Eastern Zonal Cultural Center in Kolkata. I am surprised
to see the sand art in the beach of puri. I met Sudarshan Pattnaik who is a reputed
sand artist.
In Puri city, I went to
the Puri Beach. I travelled to the Puri railway station and found that the beach
has been approximately 2 km away. I went to the airport which is located
in Bhubaneswar. The distance is 60 km.
I used the taxis and buses on my visit to Puri as they are local transport.
Shree Jagannath Puri

Shree
Jagannath Puri temple has been a great monument in Odisha. I visited this
temple and heard from the guide that it has been built by renowned king under Ganga
Dynasty Ananta Varman Chodaganga Deva. Vaishnava temple is stunning and I am
really amazed. It is around 12th century as per the guide. I discovered Lord
Jagannath along with Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.
Chilika Lake
I
went to the Chilika Lake and I found that it is really big. The guide told me
that it is an inland salt-water lake. It is about 50 km from Puri. It is an amazing
place for tourists. The landscape is truly amazing with greenery. There are trees
in the island of Chilika Lake.
Puri Beach
I
roamed around the Puri Beach and the coastline is excellent. I saw the Bay of
Bengal closely. I took photograph of the sun shining over the waters across the
beach. It was 35 kms away from Sun Temple.
Ratha Yatra
I
enjoyed the Ratha Yatra and it was known by the Chariot Festival in the western
world. This Hindu festival has been connected with Jagannath. I visit Puri
every year to watch the Rath Yatra. I know that it is celebrated in Ashadha
Shukla Dwitiya, which is second day of bright fortnight in the month of Ashadha.
The guide told me that the festival is known for yearly visit of Jagannath to
Gundicha Temple through Mausi Maa Temple. It has been the home and it is
located at Balagandi Chaka, Puri. I saw the procession in the Ratha Yatra and I
found deities of Balabhadra, Jagannath, and Subhadra. They are demonstrated in the
procession and they move towards the Gundicha Temple. I heard that they remain
in that place for 9 days. It is really interesting to note the Ratha Yatra deities
have been returned back to primary temple.

Narendra tank
I
went to Narendra Tank which is a big tank in Odisha and it is the largest as
per the geographers. In 15th century, it has been built. I found the tank to be
holy due to the proliferation of temples in the vicinity. I found an island at the
center of lake having a tiny temple known as Chandana Mandapa.
Markandeswar temple
I
heard from the local guide that it has been built in 13th century. I studied
the architecture of Markandeswara temple and found that it is magnificent.
There is an essence of artistic nature. The temple has a gate decorated with Nataraja
having ten arms.
Raghurajpur artist village
I
visited Raghurajpur village and I found that it is a village of heritage crafts
near Puri. The Pattachitra paintings are quite popular. I also discovered palm
leaf engraving along with stone and wood carvings. I also found papier mache along
with Gotipua folk dance. It is really great to find classical Odissi dance
style. I found the Patas which is the decoration in traditional form of the
throne of Lord Jagannath. The village is enriched with art. It dates back to 5
BCE.
Swargadwar beach
The Swargadwar
beach can be compared with Marine Drive of Bombai. There is a Swargadwar
Crematorium. I found large number of visitors in the year and in the Swargadwar
Beach, I bought many things from the stalls. I bought handmade products, jewelleries
and seashells. I bathed in the sea and it is really enjoyable. I enjoyed the
oceanic view. I took snacks and tea from stalls.
Astaranga beach
I
went to Astaranga beach. Astaranga meant “colourful sunset” and this beach is
found in Orissa. The view of sunset is amazing. There are beautiful hues of the
sky. The water is blue and I found a magical beauty of nature.
Vimala temple
I
found Goddess Vimala living in Jagannath temple complex at Puri. I heard that
it is a Shakti Peetha. Goddess Vimala has been regarded as tantric form of
Goddess Mother. It has been respected by the followers of Shaktism. I heard
that it protects the temple.
Sudarshan Crafts Museum
I
visited Sudarshan Crafts Museum and it has been set up by Sri Sudarshan Sahoo. I
am really happy to find the art lovers observing the rise of craftsmanship of
modern times. The museum shows traditional sculptures.
Legend of Puri
I
heard the legend in Orissa. Shiva has been worshipped here. Lord Ramachandra had
put a Lingam in Lokanath Temple.
Sakshigopal temple
I
visited the Sakshigopal temple and I came to know that it is a temple of Lord
Vishnu. The village wedding is witnessed by Vishnu. There are 16 shrines of Vajra
King and this temple is one of them. He has been regarded as Lord Krishna grandson.
I found that it is regarded as a gateway for those who come by road or train in
Puri.
Alarnatha Temple
I
visited Alarnatha Temple which is a shrine of Lord Vishnu at Brahmagiri close
to Puri. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu is a devotee who was unable to see God for 15 days
of Anavasara, after the Snana Yatra. The Jagannath temple had maintained a
secrecy and kept the idols inside the temple. It was concealed in a secret
chamber. Lord Vishnu had advised him to go to the Alarnatha Temple. This ritual
has been followed by every devotee.
Baliharachandi Beach
I
visited Baliharachandi Beach and it is close to Puri Beach. The atmosphere is
calm. It is a beach between Konark and Puri. They find little crabs along with
seashells.
